Ride along in the cab from Barstow to Bakersfield and back with Dave Crammer, a historian and accomplished photogrpaher who records accurate and complete details, including exact documentation of the communications between the crews and dispatchers. You will also see much of the line from the air, as well as trackside, with several railfan photographers offering their best work.

As an employee of the American Locomotive Company, Chris MacDermot had the opportunity to ride all across the country with a DL-640 Demonstrator set in the early 1960's. This is the fifth installment in his series of real-life stories describing the not-always-glamorous life on the railroad. Demonstrating on the Southern Pacific, Delaware & Hudson and Erie are covered in this issue.

Mike Bednar relates his experiences at Penn Haven, a junction located deep in the Lehigh River Gorge between Wilkes-Barre and Allentown, where the Lehigh Valley and Central Railriad of New Jersey crossed at grade.
